Steps of Intercession

1. Examine your heart:
Ps 66:18 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Ps 139:23-24 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Heb 9:14 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
I Jn 1:7 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
2. I acknowledge I can't pray without the direction of The Holy Spirit.
Rom 8:26 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
3. I pray that all my thoughts, desires, and things I need to pray for die.
Prov 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Isa 55:8-9 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
4. Believe that God answers prayers:
Matt 21:18-22 18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
5. Pray The Armor of God on.
Eph 6:10-20 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
6. Begin to Praise God.
7. Allow The Holy Spirit to put burdens on your heart.
8. Don't go on to another burden until you have received peace.
9. End your praying with praises to God.

Prayer for Savannah

Thank you, Father, for choosing Savannah. Thank You for sparing and protecting her numerous times throughout her history. Thank you for that part of her spiritual heritage which has come from Your hand, and the giants of the faith who have ministered from her borders. Thank You for blessing her with a large Jewish population, and for those who wisely allowed them to become a part of this city. We acknowledge that You have a special destiny for this city and that You desire for Savannah to play a distinct role in Your divine plan.

As citizens of Your Kingdom, and also as citizens of Savannah, we acknowledge and repent of the sins of the flesh which have prevented her from receiving the blessings You desire to bestow upon her. With contrition and humility, we confess our own sins, as well as those of our forefathers, which still hold sway over this city in the spiritual realm.

  • We confess and repent for all idolatry that has found a home here.
  • We confess and repent for all witchcraft and occult practices which have profited in our city.
  • We confess and repent for all secret societies such as the Masons, and other ungodly organizations which have become entrenched here.
  • We, the Church, are sorry for rejecting certain prophets whom You have sent to this city. We confess any ignorance of, and disobedience to Your Word.
  • We confess and repent for disunity, competition, and suspicion that has kept us, as Your Body, from working together for the purposes of Your Kingdom. Bind us together, Lord, across denominational and racial lines, with the unified heart and mind of Christ. Help us be thankful for those who are different from us.
  • We confess and repent for a lack of love toward the lost, and those who have been caught in the trap of sin. We have been judgmental and complacent, and not grieved for the souls of men.
  • We confess and repent for the sins of MURDER, PERVERSION, FORNICATION, SLAVERY, RACISM, HUMANISM, SECTARIANISM, REBELLION, SLANDER AND GOSSIP, MURMURING AND COMPLAINING, DRUNKENNESS AND REVELINGS, GREED, AND ALL OTHER SINS COMMITTED BY THE CITIZENS OF SAVANNAH, PAST AND PRESENT, WHICH JEOPARDIZE THE FUTURE OF THE NEXT GENERATION.

Lord, by the power of Your blood shed at Calvary, we pray these prayers. Forgive our sins, Lord, and restore Your light over this dark city. Let Your Spirit move mightily once again to purify the Church and convict the sinner. Lord, raise up a remnant in Savannah, that will yield to Your purposes, and obey Your holy will, no matter the cost. In the blessed Name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, we ask these things. AMEN.
